MISSION. Street Lighting International (SLI) was born as a division of Laboratorio Italiano, a company that has several decades of experience in the design and production of electronic devices. The hinges, on which rested and still rests product development, are quality and reliability.
The primary target was to design and to put into production street LED lamps with the following requirements:

  •  minimum lasting of 11 years* (*for a 12 hours/day operation);
  •  very high reliability;
  •  very high resistance to severe weather conditions;
  •  energy saving of at least 60% (typ. 70-80%) compared to conventional lights;
  •  IP67 protection;
  •  operating temperature: - 40 °C ... + 60 °C
  •  excellent performance/price ratio;
  •  extremely competitive price;
  •  no service;
  •  excellent protection against static charges;
  •  LEDs lasting: 20 (twenty) years and more;
  •  one motto: “German technology, Italian creativity”

This is the goal of yesterday, largely achieved. Today we want to go much further. We want to produce streetlights, in which, the fact of generating light, is almost secondary. The lamp is going to become "smart", intelligent. It will be able to interact to exchange data, to warn people of the approach of a lightning storm, to inform users if a parking lot, under the street lamp, is free and of how many places are still available, to recharge the batteries of electric bicycles or electric cars, etc., etc.

The streetlight, today, is produced also to illuminate the exterior of industrial and handicraft hangars, of supermarkets, discos, walkways, gardens, swimming pools, sports facilities, stadiums, road construction sites, etc.. We have available about thirty different optics, by which we can meet any need. Besides, who said we produce only streetlights for outdoor use? We started to manufacture lights for the interior of industrial and handicraft hangars, lights bench for laboratories and workshops. Our purpose is to make the working environment much more pleasant and efficient, with the generation of an optimized light to make people feel better and, of course, make sure that they see better their workplace.

SLI-1-GP SLI-1-ST
SLI-1 lamp was designed and built with the intention of providing the market with a very reliable, yet inexpensive product, which have intrinsic very important features, which could be powered by alternating current from 90 to 264 VAC @ 50/60 Hz. The project involved the achievement of five objectives: very high reliability, very competitive price, no maintenance, expected life of 11 years and more and very good protection against theweather and lightning. The lamp consists of 3 parts: the LED module, the power supply and the circuit for lightning protection. The power supply and the protection circuit are inserted into the frame and can be detached from the LED module.
Suggested use: lighting of walkways, gardens of houses, garage lighting, general outdoor use, etc.

SLI-1-12/24V-GP SLI-1-12/24V-ST

SLI-1-12/24V lamp was designed and built with the intention of providing the market with a very reliable product, which have intrinsic very important features and that it could be powered with direct current, with a 12 V battery or with two batteries in series, with a total voltage of 24 V. The fact of being able to be powered with a 12 V battery or two 12V batteries in series, makes it suitable to be employed in areas with no electricity, in boats, in motor homes, wherever it is necessary an effective lighting, with a very low consumption, in terms of energy.

It is far the most widely used lamp, for its versatility and reliability, in any place, where there is a need to have an intense, long lasting light. It is the result of a very reliable and competitive product. SLI WIRELESS OPERATION
You have just set up a certain amount of street LED lights, which cover a certain area or different roads. And you are very satisfied with their operation, for many significant reasons: low consumption, lasting of several years, no maintenance, low operating temperature, no presence of harmful materials such as lead or mercury, no flicker, etc. However immediately arises the need to control these LED lamps, so that, sent acommand to one of them, all the others follow immediately. Let's go a bit in more detail.

The project. It comes out the need to produce a circuit able to drive, via radio frequency (RF), the LED street lamps. This RF circuit must be able to communicate, via a USB connector, with a computer or with a notebook. As frequency is chosen the frequency of 2.4 GHz, for several reasons: excellent behavior in the used area, antenna with very compact dimensions, very wide bandwidth for sending and receiving data. An image of the design of the electronic circuit you can see below, so you can have also an idea of the circuit size.

What you can see on the top left, under the name A1, is the ceramic antenna, used at this stage of design.
Below still you have a bottom view of the final circuit.

How it works. Imagine you have a street with 120 LED lamps and we want to turn them on at a specific time, turn them off at a given time, all together. And we want to do it via radio. Then we have, at our disposal, a notebook, the circuit that you see above, which will be connected to a USB port of the notebook and the related software, developed by SLI. The street LED lamps will all be equipped with the same circuit, referred to above (without the USB connector, of course), so you can connect them, wireless, with the notebook and to exchange data between your notebook (we'll call it Master) and the street lamps.

In Figure 1 you can see a practical example. As you can see, the notebook is not connected wireless to the LED lamp number 1, but is connected to the first nearest LED lamp, which could be any from number 1 to number 120.

What you get with radio control of street LED lamps:

  • to power on/off all the street LED lights concerned, at a specified time;
  • to turn on all the lamps concerned, at a predetermined time at 100% of their light output. Then, at another set time, you can order the lamps to stay at 30% of their intensity or the percentage you want. Important. It is important to decide whether this feature will be used or not, since, during the production, if you decide that the street lights will only be turned on or off remotely, wireless, it will be selected a certain kind of power supply, while, if you expect that the intensity of the lamps will be adjusted, always wireless, then it will be adopted another type of power supply;
  • the possibility to divide the management of the street LED lamps of each road. This allows you to manage the lighting in different roads, depending on the size and on the traffic of the road itself;
  • the possibility of providing the radio circuit also with a light sensor, so that it can handle alone the on/off of the street LED lamps, without using the remote control. This is useful, in the case of an accidental lack of radio connection: the circuit, equipped with an appropriate software, independently manages the switching on and off of the street lamps;
  • in the case of areas without electricity, where the street LED lights are battery powered, it provides for the possibility, as above, to turn on/off the lamps or you can adjust the lighting at a specific time. It is included the function of controlling and managing the operation of the battery.
